I went off to sleep but woke up to the sound of a huge torrent of water pouring away! Razz Immediately thought back to the time when my kitchen flooded and destroyed so many of my books! Woke up with a start, inspected the house, nothing. Turned out the construction workers for the Upgrading Project probably worked through the night as well cause after that, there was the sound of a huge plastic mat or something being dragged across the ground downstairs. Rolling Eyes

Overall slept quite well cause of my accummulated nights of bad sleep and jet lag! Laughing

Bear and elindra, you poor souls! Razz Want me to bring Chicken Essence to you or not, elindra? I know Bear can't take that cause it triggers projectile vomiting in him!

I'm trying to look for a vacation job.

I'm not very particular about what kind of job it is, so long as the pay's reasonable (say, $5 an hour).

If all else fails, I'll just contact my former manager at Pan Pacific Hotel. Frankly speaking, the pay there is good ($6/hour + tips), but I've had some pretty bad experiences there.

Simply put, the Mats there (Malay ah bengs) can't seem to put up with a 'university boy' working there for a few weeks. Neutral

I really ain't asking for much. I'd wait on tables if I have to if the pay is reasonable enough. In fact, I'm thinking of checking out a few restaurants near Siglap Center later.

The sucky thing is, a lot of admin jobs seem to say that 'only Chinese-speaking applicants need apply'.

I like plain prata when you can eat right there, cause takeaway plain prata is not as nice and crispy.

I like egg prata too. It's good even when you takeaway.

I only quite recently discovered paper prata, when I went with my ex-colleagues to the 24-hr prata joints opposite SGH for b'fast after night duty. It's nice too!

The other pratas, don't know and don't like and not quite keen to try for now. Laughing

Heres a tip about pratas.

Plain pratas are mostly made in advance and kept at the side of their flat plates.

Eggs, onions, cheese & so on pratas are made when you order. So its fresh.

Ah... when you're new in a working environment, depending on the attitude of the staff there and the culture of the workplace, sometimes, there's this bullying mentality. It's kinda like they wanna suss you out and see what you're made of and to see if you can actually become 'one of us'.

Maybe, that's what's happening to you. Ah well, the working world IS a jungle where the fittest survive and the rest kinda would have dug their own caves and burrows to retreat to when necessary. Razz
